Learning Through Field Trips

Thanks to the smaller size of our school, we are able to take frequent field trips. With the help of parents, we visit places such as the Flat Rock Playhouse, the WNC State Fair, baseball games, orchards, historic sites, the Grove Park Inn, and the Renaissance Fair

Community Outreach

In years past, students have participated in food drives, made holiday boxes for the elderly, and worked with Meals on Wheels.  Students have also participated in various fundraisers such as Math-a-thon, Pennies for Cancer, and Reading with Animals.

Homework Group

Homework group is scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3 pm to 4 pm at a cost of $5 per day. Homework assistance and extra mentoring is given to students.

Here at HHIS, we offer kindergarten through 12th grade instruction. We follow the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and are accredited through the N.C. Governor’s Office. Our school utilizes the Accelerated Reading Program and SAXON math, spelling, and reading programs, as well as textbooks geared towards every area of study and grade level. We make it a priority to prepare our graduates for the next phase of life. Some go straight into their chosen career fields, while others further their education at well-known schools such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Tennessee School of Veterinary Medicine, and the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech).
